Junior Chosen for Education Abroad Gala in D.C

He spent this past summer studying abroad in Argentina, and recently returned from the Forum for Education Abroad Gala in Washington, D.C.

EKU junior Ivan Olivas is going places – figuratively and literally.

Olivas, a native of Lexington whose parents emigrated to the U.S. from Chihuahua, Mexoco, was one of only 13 scholars nationwide chosen to attend the Gala. His visit also included a visit to the U.S. Capitol and a tour of the National Museum of African-American History and Culture.

Rachel Knoebel is a junior public relations major from Florence, Kentucky, and spent her spring semester in Senator Rand Paul’s Office in Washington, D.C., as well as the summer at the White House in the Office of Presidential Correspondence. She plans to move to Washington, D.C., after graduation and pursue a career in political communication. Rachel shared her first-person view of interning in our nation’s capital.
