Bio

Rose Perrine
Professor Psychology
Associate Dean College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences
Eastern Kentucky University

Dr. Rose Perrine earned her undergraduate degree from California State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, and her doctorate from the University of California in social psychology with an emphasis in research and statistics.

As a graduate student she earned distinction for her academic performance and an award for outstanding teaching, a tradition she has continued at EKU earning student nominations for the Golden Apple Teaching Award, Critical Thinking Teacher of the Year, Co-op Coordinator of the Year, and Outstanding Academic Advisor in the Psychology Department.

Dr. Perrine has always been a fierce proponent for undergraduate research. She has mentored over 200 students and published multiple academic articles in collaboration with students. Dr. Perrine developed the idea and launched EKU’s very first Undergraduate Presentation (UP) Showcase in 2002. For the next 10 years she directed the UP Showcase and coordinated Posters at the Capitol, where undergraduate students are selected to present their scholarly work in Frankfort to Kentucky’s legislators.

In 2006 Dr. Perrine worked with faculty across campus to develop assessment processes for EKU’s General Education Program, processes that are still in use today. She began the first assurance-of-learning workshops in which she helped faculty develop and assess goals for their graduating seniors, and has conducted multiple workshops on teaching and assessing critical thinking.
